Scope of Work:
Rockfall mitigation project on I-24 near Mile Marker 137 involving reconstruction and stabilization of an unstable rock slope. Major elements include excavation and pushing back the existing slope approximately 20 feet for improved rockfall catchment; trimming and scaling of loose or unstable material; controlled pre-split blasting to create a uniform, stable rock face; installation of rockfall drape mesh to guide materials into the ditch; clearing and grubbing within limits; construction of temporary haul roads for site access; ditch cleanup; and shoulder enhancements. Site photos provided in the scoping document illustrate the existing rock slope conditions at Stations 172+00 through 180+50 (see images on pages 2–5).
